Chef Travis Petersen is a West Coast native that calls Edmonton his second home, and the birthplace of his passion for food. After relocating in his mid-twenties to pursue a career in oil and gas, Travis apprehensively applied for Masterchef Canada. Though cooking had always been a passion, he never thought it would grow past that; but once selected as one of the Top 40 to compete on one of CTV’s most viewed television shows, things started to evolve.

After returning from the show with fresh insights, Travis chose to chase his new found passion. In January of 2016, The NOMADCOOK was born - A Chef Agency and Culinary Consultancy.

Chef Travis is a regular guest of the Weekend Morning News on Global Edmonton and has hosted & promoted over a dozen pop up dinners in the last 2 years, all in the City of Champions. Edmonton is not only where the NOMAD concept was cultivated, but a reminder of the ever growing possibilities, and to always stay hungry.

Travis is absolutely thrilled to be part of taste of Edmonton in 2018.  Guests can expect a dinner that not only highlights the beautiful fresh ingredients of Alberta, but the flair and diversity of Canada.

Menu:

  • 1st course - Trio Beet salad - whipped goat cheese, pickled fennel, white asparagus, fresh basil, lemon tahini sauce
  • 2nd course - Brazlian Moqueca - Coconut base stew, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, cilantro, palm oil basmati rice and fresh seafood (halibut & mussels)
  • 3rd course - Alley Kat Marinated pork loin - fresh herbs, shallots, garlic, chillies, parmigiana, crusty golden potatoes
  • 4th course - Sopailla Cheesecake - gin braised rhubarb, blueberry compote, whip cream, lemon zest
