iamhill, fresh out of releasing her long-awaited album titled Give it a Rest (on outlets such as Earmilk and Sidewalk Hustle), definitely isn’t giving it a rest, with a new EP in the wings and releases lined up throughout the year. 2018 found hill climbing viral Spotify playlists (such as Young & Free and Canada Viral 50, not to mention being featured on Spotify Canada’s New Music Friday playlist three weeks in a row) and traveling around the globe to write songs with new producers and artists.
Having just returned from Asia, where she shot two new music videos in late February with Travis Nesbit (creator of DethLab) and Jay Sparrow, she had the opportunity to play three showcases at Austin Texas’ local Red Gorilla Music festival on March 15th, 16th, and 17th, coinciding with the city’s week of South by SouthWest madness. She then spent two weeks on the road in April, one in “Music City, USA” (Nashville), with co-writer and producer Gavin Slate, working on new material for iamhill’s solo project. Immediately following her time in Nashville, she was invited to Santorini, Greece, where she attended the Blackrock Songwriting camp at Blackrock studios (Justin Bieber, One Direction). iamhill’s recent viral single and title track off her album, “Give it a Rest”, is now being featured on SONiC 102.9, alt radio and major taste-maker in Canada as their Local Spotlight artist, and looks forward to playing in her hometown of Edmonton, Alberta this summer at Taste of Edmonton and SONiC’s local spotlight showcase in August.
Jesse and the Dandelions are a 5 piece psyche-pop band based in Edmonton Alberta, led by Jesse Northey (Producer, Engineer).
With Jesse and the Dandelions’ production values maturing alongside the content, their upcoming album Give Up The Gold (2018) is enriched with classic synth and guitar textures that pays respect to the past, while forging their own path forward. String sections, a cacophonous blend of noise, and heavily layered vocal harmonies push accessible pop hooks into more psychedelically complex and intriguing harmonic territory that rewards repeat listeners by continuing to engage them.
“True Blue is a thoughtful, evocative album that grows in appreciation on successive spins. In the simplest terms, it’s a dreamy pop record that ventures into the realm of the psychedelic.
Highlighted by compelling, layered instrumentation, coded ethereal lyrics and the occasional jangly guitar—True Blue leaves a lingering effect that is challenging and satisfying. Elegant harmonies drift throughout the record, summoning memories of late Beatles records crossed with early ’90s college-radio lyrics” – Vue Weekly
The band has been very active in Western Canada with success on CBC and campus community radio, as well as great opening slots for bands like Attack In Black, Hollerado,Said the Whale and July Talk.
