Stony Plain Pie Shoppe
After studying journalism, religion, and political science, Chef Kevin Waddell decided to take a completely different career path and pursue his lifelong passion in the kitchen.
Chef Kevin was part of the opening team at the River Cree Resort & Casino in 2010, and has worked in other capital regional hotels, restaurants, and catering companies. He earned his Red Seal through NAIT’s apprenticeship training. He teaches cooking classes, and occasionally competes in culinary competitions. Chef Kevin won a silver medal at the 2015 Canadian Food Championships.
In 2016, he started working at the Multicultural Heritage Centre in Stony Plain, and was given the option to run the foodservice operation as a private business in March of 2018. He jumped at the opportunity, and started the Stony Plain Pie Shoppe.
Menu: Short Ribs in the Garden
- Butter, Bannock and a Board (a charcuterie board, that is!)
- Appetizer: Fingerling Pasties
- Main Course: Braised Short ribs with saskatoon berry demi glace, lovage infused potato, and produce that chef finds growing fresh in the organic garden
- Dessert Duel: Haskap Berry custard pie vs. sour cherry pie.
