Taste of Edmonton 2024: Job Opportunities
Position Overview: As the Site Supervisor, you will be responsible for: liaising with contractors, organizing deliverables and leading a crew in the set-up, operation, and strike of the Taste of Edmonton Festival. You will work closely with stakeholders, employees, and the public to ensure smooth operation and success of the festival. This is both an office and warehouse position.
Duties:
Pre festival:
- Work with partners to determine booth needs, i.e. tables, chairs, electrical, propane, etc….
- Manage contracted equipment and services for the festival
- Manage and maintain festival inventory
- Work closely with management to ensure festival areas have equipment needed for the event
- Manage and lead site crew in warehouse duties
- Build new equipment where needed
- Perform general labor duties as assigned
- Operate a variety of hand tools
Festival Operation:
- Drive a 5 ton or small delivery truck
- Manage and lead site crew; create schedules, allocate days off, cover shifts when needed, manage duties and tasks, etc..
- Lead the delivery and removal of all equipment to festival site
- Lead onsite crews (paid and volunteer staff) through set up and tear down of the festival
- Coordinate & manage setup of all aspects of the festival
- Be the onsite contact for all setup and tear down inquiries
- Manage booth needs onsite
- Close and lock all festival areas at the end of the night and open and unlock all festival areas in the morning
- Receive deliveries to site including beverages and festival equipment
- Respond to restaurant inquiries and maintain all booth infrastructure
- Perform general labor duties as assigned
- Operate a variety of hand tools
Post Festival:
- Inventory and organize equipment
- Clean and prepare equipment for winter storage
- Create a list of all broken equipment and equipment in need of repair
- Other duties as assigned
Key competencies:
- Leadership abilities
- Exceptional problem solving and decision making skills with high attention to detail
- Proven planning, organizing and prioritizing skills
- Strong ability to communicate and work in a team
- Forklift certification is an asset; training will be provided
- Inventory management skills are an asset
Working conditions:
- Start date is May 21, 2024 and end date is August 23, 2024
- 7 hours per day, 35 hours per week
- Pre Festival hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm (May 21 - July 12, 2024).
- Festival hours; evenings and weekends, leading up to and during the festival. (Must be able to work July 14 - August 2, 2024 inclusive). Overnight shifts will be required
- Post Festival hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:00pm (August 6 - 23, 2024)
- Over time hours are paid at 1.5x after 8 hours a day or 44 hours a week, whichever is greater, in accordance with Alberta Provincial Employment Standards.
Employment requirements:
- Proficient in spoken and written English
- Punctual, meticulous, reliable, and a leader
- Physically able to lift up to 50lbs
- Follow: human resource policies and procedures as set out in Alberta employment standards; current business processes and systems; and health and safety procedures and ensure policies
- Comply will all provincial federal and municipal codes of practice and bylaws
- Must be of legal age
- Valid driver’s license
